At the end of September, I attended the NFB of Iowa state convention in Des Moines. On Friday morning, I participated in a community service project Meals From the Heartland. Our group put together over 1700 packaged meals that will be sent to countries around the world to feed the hungry. The event was an assembly line where each bag was filled with powdered soy protein, vitamins, dehydrated vegetables, and rice. I was the rice girl. The food can be reconstituted by adding hot water. This was a fun and worthy project.
